The V&A has redesigned their fashion gallery, and are launching their refurbished collection of 100 outfits on May 19. Highlights include a mantua (gown) from the 1760’s, an 1850’s wedding dress, flapper dresses from the 20’s, evening dresses by names such as Dior, Givenchy and Lanvin, to name but a few. Punk is represented by a Vivienne Westwood outfit, whilst more recent times are represented by Dries van Noten and Prada. There is also a separate space dedicated to temporary exhibition 'Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950', which presents more than sixty of the most elaborate evening dresses, ballgowns, and catwalk showstoppers. The exhibition also opens on May 19 and runs to January 6th.

Entrance to the V&A is free, however the 'Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950' exhibition costs £10, £7 concs, under-12s free.
Celebrated photographer and film maker Jim Lee is showcasing a collection of his most iconic images to coincide with the launch of his biography, ‘Arrested’. With a career spanning fifty years, Lee started out photographing music acts such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and then moved on to fashion photography, collaborating with designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace and Ossie Clark. All works in the exhibition will be for sale.

After a series of exciting events to celebrate their tenth anniversary London’s most famous vintage store Beyond Retro, has even more treats to excite us this weekend. They are hosting a ‘50 % off absolutely everything sale’ at their Brick Lane store.
