What? Shop and party at The Water Poet’s Jubilee party! This gastropub is hosting a royal extravaganza with a Royal Variety Stage for some lyrical treats, whilst eating shellfish from the specialists Tubby Isaac’s and washing it down with the best Italian icecream by Gelupo. The pub itself is also serving up some ales, pies and a hog roast. You can then nip across to the vintage market to source yourself some unique retro treats and shop till you drop. You will also be able to find some true vintage gems on board the classic red London bus which accompanies the market! If only shopping could be like this everyday!

What? The Balham Diamond Jubilee Street Party! A combination of music, fashion and children’s entertainment this party is definitely one not to miss out on! Housing 25 stalls filled with vintage and retro clothing there’s no chance you will go home empty handed. The stalls are celebrating the Queens 60 year reign with items dedicated to the time between the 1930’s and 1990’s, and not with just clothing either. You will also find an array of vintage homewares and souvenirs. Meanwhile there is also a vintage tea party for you to join in and swing dance lessons, to really get the party started. To entertain the children there will also be a Punch and Judy show and face painting (but I’m sure they let the big kids play too!)
Where? Hildreth Street, Balham, London
When? Sunday 3rd June, midday until 6pm
How Much? Free admission
What? Take a step back in time to the 1950’s and enjoy browsing through 30 stalls dedicated to vintage and retro clothing and accessories as well as glitzy jewellery, homewares and even old school books. To accompany your 50’s shopping experience, there will also be 1950’s music playing and dancing to liven the party up. Not to mention performances by Punch and Judy for some entertainment and a family workshop to partake in, and when that tires you out pop over to the Vintage cafe for some sweet treats to recuperate! Sounds like my kinda shopping!
